As a graduate of the University of Mississippi and a Texas CPA for over 20 years, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise into my real estate career.  I have been involved in the Houston real estate market for most of my adult life as an investor, builder and remodeler, as well as, a homeowner.  In my previous career, I participated daily in contract review and negotiation related to large capital projects and commercial leases.  Real estate has always been a passion of mine.  I am enthusiastic about each step of the process from listings and showings, to closings and beyond.  I have had the pleasure in my career of partnering with a renowned architect in numerous projects, from new home construction to extensive updating and remodeling projects.  It is exciting for me to see a home transform into something fresh and new, or back to its original roots and intended charm and appeal.  As your real estate agent, I have the experience to help you navigate through each step of the home buying/selling process, and will be there to assist and support you along the way.  Purchasing or selling a home can be a stressful and emotional journey.  My job, as your real estate agent, is to do my very best to help guide you through the experience, and make it a rewarding one for all parties involved.

Jackie Lakey, an Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR®) and a Top Producer since joining Heritage Texas Properties, has been assisting families buying and selling homes in North Houston and The Woodlands since 1985. More recently, she’s also been active working in the Galveston real estate market where she and her husband, Marty, own a second home.

Shani is a dedicated realtor with a passion for coastal properties and helping people. Shani's background in nursing has been instrumental in her real estate career, as it has equipped her with valuable skills in communication and empathy. In addition to her real estate work, Shani is actively involved in her community. She is a member of the Oppe Elementary PTO, where her daughter attends school. She is also associated with the Galveston Association of Realtors (GAR) and the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR). Moreover, she volunteers her time at The Grand 1894 Opera House, showcasing her commitment to giving back.

Shani has a strong connection to nature and water, which is what brought her family to Galveston Island. She is a wife and a mother of two, with her daughter attending Oppe Elementary and participating in the Galveston gymnastics team. Her husband and son share her love for the outdoors and water activities, particularly fishing in West Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

Shani's early life took place in Elkhart, Kansas, and she was raised on her family's farm in Dalhart, Texas. Throughout high school and college, she was involved in rodeo, including being a Trick-rider for the 777 Rodeo Company. She pursued a nursing career during college, earning a license in Vocational Nursing from Navarro College. Shani worked as an administrative nurse in geriatric care before transitioning to real estate in the summer of 2022 when she obtained her real estate license.
